Solving Dog Housebreaking Problems With 5 Tips

Solving common dog housebreaking problems are a big source of stress to many people. It seems like you have tried everything but nothing works and you seem to be at a loss as to what to do next. Here are 5 tips to try and help you solve your problems.

1. If your dog does have an accident and relieves himself inside, let him run around the room where you are in. Only when he comes back to the site of accident, then scold him.

2. If you do catch your dog urinating inside, interrupt him and take him outside. When he does go back to the site of the accident, tell him “shame on you.”

3. Make sure you don’t give your dog water two hours before the last potty run, and at night do not allow him to drink any water. This will help because younger dogs have small bladders.

4. Try to confine your dog to a crate or restrain him on a leash if you cannot observe him. Keep him in the crate for at least 2 hours intervals and a 30 minute potty break. Never let your dog roam around the house unmonitored.

5. When going outside, take him to the same potty area every time so he gets the hint. Dogs learn the fastest when there is a routine.
